The Festival is a not-for-profit event so relies on the generosity of local business and a few good sponsors. This year we have Specsavers (for  a second year), DriveNow (a great eco alternative to car ownership), Cooperative Food (who tookover the old Budgen’s store) and local pan Asian restaurant TooTooMoo (one of our favourite eateries).

Crouch End Festival artist, Sean Azzopardi launches community poster campaign (backed by us) to encourage people to SMILE AND SAY HELLO to each other. “Conversations start communities.” Drawings are of locals.

Sean has just appeared on Channel 5 on The Wright Stuff! They gave a full 15 mins to the campaign and gave it a massive thumbs up.

CROUCH END FESTIVAL 2015 – THE BIGGEST AND BEST YET. NOW FOR 2016!

poster silverleaf v2.indd

THE CROUCH END FESTIVAL 2016

Fri June 3rd –Sunday 12th.

How do I get involved?

From performers of every kind to market stalls, volunteers, venues and sponsors, everything you need to know is below.

EVENTS, SHOWS, PERFORMANCES, WORKSHOPS, ETC…

The Festival is the UK’s biggest community arts festival and run like the Edinburgh Festival. Last year we had over 200 performers and over 70 venues used.

Anyone can perform, set up an event or show, workshop, talk…

We don’t vet or audition anyone, except for a few key events we organise like the Live Band Day on Sun 7th.

  1. You decide WHAT you want to do. Anything goes, last year we had 15 different categories of creativity from art, film, photography, dance, drama, street entertainment to poetry, comedy, workshops and much more.
  1. Decide WHERE – find a venue (we will be publishing a list of possible ones soon). It can be a regular venue like the Earl Haig or the Town Hall, maybe a pub or coffee bar. Even something unusual like a barber’s shop, phone box or open air. Talk to the venue’s manager and once you have agreed a booking you can start planning ahead.

Now you‘ll need to register on the Festival website:  www.crouchendfestival.org   (there’s a small admin fee to cover our costs). NOTE – new website launches Monday March 30th.

  1. Plan HOW you are going to promote it. You need to go to the website and register (there’s a small fee) so we can list you on the Festival website and across the various channels we use to help promote events. But don’t just rely on us, you need to work as hard as us.

THINGS TO CONSIDER…

  1. Licenses: Remember to check if you need a performance license (called a TEN), most venues have some kind of performance license. If you do need a TEN you’ll need to apply to Haringey Council for one. http://www.haringey.gov.uk/business/licensing-and-regulations/licensing/z-licences/temporary-event-notice
  1. Ticketing: as a community arts festival we like to try and keep as many events free as possible. However, some do charge entrance fees (or ask for donations) to cover costs. We want it to be about the art not the money.
  1. Promotions: use social media, flyers/postcards, posters and the venue’s database. Don’t forget to list the event on online listing websites and in publications like Time Out. Besides general gig listings use specialist ones too. And if your event is unique or a first, you may want to consider a press release as well. We recommend you use a local printer like MomentoPrint on the Broadway (http://momentoprint.com).

Crouch End Festival 2015 (June 5th-14th)

CEF logo2015 v2Screen Shot 2015-01-13 at 02.04.28

The official dates of the next festival is Friday June 5th – Sunday June 14th, 2015.

Now the UK’s biggest community arts festival. “London’s own mini Edinburgh.”

Last year over 200 acts, over 70 venues, over 90 local businesses involved, 9 schools and tens of thousands of people! Our Open Cinema event (Shaun of the Dead) drew almost 300 zombies – the biggest zombie walk in North London – and almost 1000 people to the green.

Yep, we’ll be doing another Zombie Walk this year – the film is still top secret.

We’ll also have the Hornsey Town Hall available for events too.

We are now staring to plan this year’s event and are always looking for volunteers who want to get involved in community. It gives you both a real purpose and great satisfaction. Plus you get to meet lots of interesting nice people.

The event is not for profit so sorry but no one gets paid. Which also means we need to raise money to run it. We are open to any donations (large or small), help in grant applications or if any rich people living locally wants to support local creativity, we would love to get your support. The more we raise, the more we can do.

If you are a local celebrity, please help us with our PR, the press love a celebrity and a brief photo call will help raise profile and attract people to the area. Which helps support the community, creativity and local businesses.

If you want to sponsor the festival or an event (or the live stage or Open Cinema),

call Chris Arnold on 07778 05 66 86.

If you want to perform, run an event, a show, workshops  – well anything – remember we run it like Edinburgh Festival – you decide what you want to do, you will need to find a local venue (can be anything from church hall to a coffee shop), book it and then you publicise your event nearer the time. We’ll support you by listing your event on the official website, putting it in the printed guide and overall, by publicising the festival.

(Note most events at the festival are free but some are ticketed. You may need public liability insurance and a performing licence – not often needed).
